Will of Zadoc Cook

Georgia, Clarke County

I Zadock Cook of the County and State aforesaid being in common health and mind, memory and understanding, but calling to mind the mortality of man do hereby make and ordain this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disannulling all others heretofore made by me, this only to be taken and received as very last will and testament.

All my estate both real and personal I give desire and dispose of in the following manner.

1st Item: My will and desire is that all my just debt to be paid before any division of my estate is made.

2nd Item: I give and bequeath unto the children of my Deceased Daughter Rebecca Conner to wit, Zadock Conner, Purnal Conner, David Conner, Mary Stephens and Jerusha Jennings, the sum of one hundred dollars each in money with the exception of my Grand Daughter Jerusha Jennings what I give Sixty Dollars in money, one cow and calf over and above this One Hundred Dollars that I have given unto her in this bequest which sum they are to receive in full of their deceased Mothers interest unto my estate.

3rd Item: I give and bequeath unto the Children of my Deceased son Purnal Cook, to wit, Betsy Cook, Martha Cook, Zadock Cook, James Cook, Sally Cook, Nancy Cook, Leutice A. Cook, the sum of Fifty Dollars each in money, which sums they are to receive in full of their Deceased Fathers interest unto my estate.

4th Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Dismukes the sum of Two Hundred Dollars in Money which sum she is to receive in full of her interest unto my estate which sum is to be retained in the hands of my Executors who, I hereby appoint her trustees to the same. The aforesaid sum of money is not to go into the hands of William H. Dismukes her husband unless it be by my daughters consent.

5th Item: I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Hogue the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars in money which sum she is to receive in full of her entire interest into my estate, the aforesaid sum of money to be retained in the hands of my Executors, who I hereby appoint Trustees to the same, the aforesaid sum of money is not be go into the hands of William L. Hogue her husband unless it be by my Daughters consent.

6th Item: I give and bequeath unto the children of my Deceased son William M. Cook to wit Henry Cook, David Cook, William Cook, James Cook, Albert Cook, Evaline Cook, and Nancy Cook, the sum of One Hundred Dollars each in money which sum they are to receive in full of their interest in and to my estate in right and in behalf of their Deceased Father William M. Cook.

7th Item: I give and bequeath unto my sons Nathan Cook, David Cook and my Daughter Nancy Browning the residue of my property to be divided between them so as to place them on an equal footing with each other in proportion to their several receipt which they have heretofore given.

8th Item: I hereby appoint and ordain my son David Cook and my friend William Jackson my Executors to this my last will and testament.
