This indenture made this third day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred thirty five between Jas E. Whitfield of the county of Jefferson and state aforesaid of the one part and John Gan of the County of Clarke and state aforesaid of the other Witnesseth that the said Jas E Whitfield hath this day for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is _________ acknolledged __________ granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents grant bargain and sell to the said John Gan Junr a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Clarke adjoining James Merriweather now Harden, Robin Sims and others containing one hundred and fifty seven acres more or less to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcell of land with all and singular the rights and appertinences thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining unto _________ unto him the said John Gan Junr his heirs and assigns forever And I the said Jas E Whitfield do by these presents oblige himself his heirs, assigns, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend the title thereof to him the said John Gan Junr heirs and assigns against themselves and all other person or persons whatsoever
