Mrs. Mildred E. Shelton, 55, of 157 Hiawassee Ave., died Wednesday in a local hospital after an illness of several years. Funeral services will be held at 2 pp.m. Friday at Bridges Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Jerry Price, pastor of Talmadge Heights Baptist Church will conduct the services. He will be assisted by the Rev. John Davidson, pastor of Bethabera Baptist Church. Mrs. Shelton was a native of Athens and had lived in Clarke County most of her life. An employee of Chicopee Manufacturing Co., she was a member of Talmadge Heights Baptist Church, and the Friendship Sunday School class. She was the daughter of Mrs. Lottie Wallace Epps and the late Oscar Earl Epps Sr. Survivors include her husband, E. R. Shelton Sr., of Athens; four daughters, Miss Phyllis Peyton, Mrs. Joyce Bray and Mrs. Regina Lynn, all of Athens, and Mrs. Janie Lee Switzer of Atlanta; her mother, Mrs. Lottie Epps of Athens; two sons, Andrew Peyton, Watkinsville and Elton Ray Shelton, Jr., Athens; three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Dottery, Watkinsville, Mrs. J. W. Norman, Athens, and Mrs. E. R. Bradberry, Athens, four brothers, T.J. Epps, Athens, Early Epps, Watkinsville, Oscar Epps Jr., Athens and Gene Epps, Athens; nine grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
