Watson Rites Today At 4 O'clock

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Andrews Watson, beloved Athenian who died early Saturday morning will be conducted at the Prince Avenue Baptist Church this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. T.R. Harvill, pastor will officiate. Interment will be in Oconee Hill cemetery, Clyde McDorman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Watson, wife of Marion Damon Watson, resided at 511 Bloomfield street. She was age 62 and had been ill for fifteen days. She passed away in a local hospital. A resident of Athens and Winterville most of her life, Mrs. Watson had a host of friends in this section of the state, and her passing is a source deep sorrow to her many loved ones (sic). Mrs. Watson, who was born in Penfield, Georgia, was a great asset to the communities in which she resided. She was a member of the Winterville Baptist Church. The remains will lie in state in the Prince Avenue Baptist Church from 3 p.m. to morrow (sic) until the time of the service. Pall-bearers will be Roy L. Hurst, Doma Watson, J.K. Patrick, Roy Michael, George W. Smith, Linton W. Pruitt, Evans Johnson, and Dale Smith. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. R.S. Fleeman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one son, James A. Watson, Miami, Fla.; and one brother, John C. Andrew, Bay Pines, Fla.
