Maretta M Carstensen, 77, of 67 Gail Drive, died Friday Jan 5, 2001.

A native of Falls City, Ore., Mrs. Carstensen was a daughter of the late Emerson and Almeda Bradshaw Murphy, was the widow of Roger Norwood Carstensen and was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lorenz "Rick" Carstensen. She had lived in Athens since 1966 and was a Clarke County school teacher. She was a member of First Christian Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ray Austin and R. Fred Chaddock officiating. Survivors include four daughters, Karen Norris, Salt Lake City, Utah., Karel Marie Eastman, Bogota, N.J., Connie Carstensen, Athens, and Deborah Carstensen, Denver Colo.; a son, Phillip Carstensen, Hendersonville, N.C., five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Gleaners Sunday School Class and the First Christian Church choir. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home West, Bogart. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 268 West Dougherty St., Athens, GA 30601.
