Mrs. Lizzie Hawkes Passes Here Sunday; Services on Tuesday

Mrs. Lizzie Hawkes, 71, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.R. Coker, 227 South Findley street, Sunday afternoon at 5:15 o'clock. Mrs. Hawkes had been ill for several months. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Prince Avenue Baptist church, conducted by Dr. Pope A. Duncan, pastor of the church assisted by Rev. Newton Saye, pastor of East Athens Baptist church. Interment will be in Nicholson with nephews of Mrs. Hawkes being pallbearers. Bernstein Funeral Home is in chare of arrangements. Surviving Mrs. Hawkes are her daughter, Mrs. Coker; a granddaughter, Mrs. E.H. Younkin, grandson, Willie Coker; and five brothers, Young Davis, R.M. Davis, J.R. Davis, W.M. Davis and J.H. Davis. Born in Nicholson, Mrs. Hawkes had been a resident of Athens for the past forty-four years, during which time she had made many friends who will deeply regret to learn of her death. She was a member of the Prince Avenue Baptist church and a good Christian woman in all that the term means.
