Dillard Services Are Held Today

Mrs. Julia B. Dillard, widow of J.W. Dillard, died Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock at her home at 247 Boulevard Heights, Mrs. Dillard was 86 years old and had been ill for 11 days. Services were held this morning at 11 o'clock from Bridges Chapel with Rev. C.R. Hickman, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Interment was in Oconee Hill Cemetery with pallbearers being Boyd Burgess, Alva Pendergrass, Jake Ginn, LeRoy Kile, Prentiss, Conway, Ernest Seymour, W.A. Shaw and James Yarbrough. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. O.B. Dawson, Athens; four sons, E.M. Dillard and W.P. Dillard, both of Athens, and James W. Dillard and W.L. Dillard, both of Thomasville, Ga.; sister, Mrs. T.M. Rogers, Newberry, S.C.; 20 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Dillard had lived all of her life in this community, most of the time in her present residence. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955. She was considered one of the oldest members of First Christian Church, having joined in 1907.
