Sudden Death Of Mr. J.W. Davenport, He was Found Dead in His Bed Wednesday Morning
Wednesday morning about 6 o'clock Mrs. J.W. Davenport, who lives on Baldwin street in this city, went to her husband's bed to wake him up to go to the breakfast table. She was horrified to find that he was dead. Mr. Davenport had died during the night and death had evidently come several hours before the fact was discovered, as the body was cold. Mr. Davenport had been in failing health for several years and during the past year his life had time and again been despaired on account of a serious affection of the heart. Nevertheless he kept going to the very end, and was up town as late as Tuesday afternoon. While he was not in good health there was nothing special to give notice of approaching death. Mr. Davenport had resided here for several years and was a well known citizen. He is survived by a wife and several children to whom the sympathies of many friends go out. He was a Confederate veteran and was devoted to the memories of the struggle.
