Ernest Mell Dillard, 85, Athens died today.

Mr. Dillard was a native of Athens. He was a member of Athens Baptist Church. He was a retired plumber. He was a master steam fitter with over 52 years of service. He was a member of Steam Fitters Union of America. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Mar. 14 at 3 p.m. from the Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens. The Revs Jimmy Taylor and Howard R. Conine will officiate. Survivors include two sosns, Carl Dolvin Dillard, Hollywood Maryland, and John Randall Dillard, Sr., Watkinsville; one sister, Mrs. Otil Dawson, Athens; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Oglethorpe Funeral Home, Crawford.
