This Indenture, made this the twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty three, between Zadock Cook of Said county and State of the one part and Jerusha Jennings grand daughter of the Said Zadock Cook of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the Said Zadock Cook for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which he has and bears to his Said grand daughter Jerusha Jennings hath given granted and conveyed and told by these presents give grant and convey unto the Said Jerusha Jenning her heirs and assigns a cearting negro woman by the name of Nancy about fifty three years of age.

To have and to hold Said negro woman unto her the Said Jerusha Jennings her heirs and assigns together with all singular the rights to the same in any manner belonging to her and their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple. In testimony whereof the Said Zadock Cook hath herein to set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year written in presence of

It is hereby understood that the said Zadok Cook hath resolved to himself the possession and use of said bargained negro Nancy during his natural life this title to her during that time being as absolute and perfect as if this instrument had not exist.
